Lesson One, Block One & Two

Here are my stacks, not hard just lots of work and lots of attention to detail. Took me about 7-8 hours for the second set of blocks including the cutting. I have never gone so slow in my life, Sebastian says i should always work with perfection in sight. I say, "i don't think so"! I am planning on cutting my fabric tomorrow to be ready for our next meeting in March. I'm looking forward to everyone's progress. I love it!!

Here's the Center of Ellie's Harvest Song

I love the fabrics, i liked the way the center turned out, my husband has claimed this one! Not just the block. The quilt, he's claimed the quilt....

I'm cheking each block, pretty crazy!

I am off by a tiny hair, you know i think i'll go with it. The only thing that's perfect in this world is God, anyway!!

Friday Night Starting my First Set of Blocks the Center

Alright so i want you to see i'm actually working away! The first one in the set of 4 turned out the best, the other 3 are off by a hair on each side. I put a new needle in, new blade for cutting, and nice thin thread for perfection!

My First Set

Ok, here are my first four blocks . . . they are just a hair over the 6 1/2 mark but I am over all happy with the accuracy . . . that purple Thang is so helpful.

Making it happen, one glance at a time...

So, first i think i'll pull out what i think are the correct fabrics. Kathy noticed that three of the blues are so close, pay close attention Ellie is what i say.. Then cut out my little swatches of fabric to reference to while cutting and actually putting together each block.. Pay close attention Ellie is what i keep saying... I'm excited about our new project, nervous for perfection, and glad i'm going to dive into the quilt this weekend! Stay tuned for updates and pictures of one of the hardest quilts i've ever attempted to make.
Close your eyes and pray for me!

First Class Sesson

Well ... as someone with only a little experience at piece quilting I have to say that I am a bit overwhelmed after watching Ricki cut and sew the multitude of very tiny pieces of fabric for our first blocks which are part of Lesson #1. WOW!!! But I am committed to completing this quilt over the next 10 months and in addition to a great teacher, I know I have a great support group with all you ladies. I just hope I can be very accurate and master the "scant 1/4 inch" seam.

The picture above shows the center of the Harvest Song Quilt 2009 which was displayed during class this afternoon ... the fabrics are all so beautiful individually but seeing them assembled in the center of the quilt shows how awesome they work together. This quilt is going to be a treasure to pass down through generations.

Thank you Eleana for getting me to take this class!!!
